 The second phase of year five quarter eighteen is accomplished as it was planned. This quarter was launched on 1^st June-31 August, 2009, it was conducted various endeavors which SAHAN member organizations and the rest of the community.

SAHAN Director Mr. Anwar Warsame attends a meeting held in Tunis on February 2009. The main objective of the meeting was to inform and prepare a group of representatives from networks or organizations of people living with HIV to consider and plan for the implementation of the PLHIV

SAHAN is a networking non-governmental organization which fights against HIV/AIDS and leading more than 100 organizations which work on humanitarian assistance activities which specially put pressure on HIV/AIDS by working on all towns in Somaliland regions.

What is HIV?HIV stands for Human Immunodeficiency Virus. HIV is the virus that causes AIDS. While many viruses can be controlled by the immune system, HIV targets and infects the same immune system cells that are supposed to protect us from illnesses. These are a type of white blood cell called CD4 cells.

About one million HIV-positive people in developing countries started to receive life-saving antiretroviral (ARV) drugs in 2007, according to a new report by UNAIDS, UNICEF and the World Health Organization. That brings to about three million the total number of people in developing countries who now have access to the drugs. But the tremendous progress that has been made in saving lives also brings with it significant challenges.
