The courses of training were consisted of: Basic introduction of social counselling, Basic facts of HIV/AIDS & STIs and, Basic community mobilization The ultimate aim of this training is to empowerment youth peer education in order to be capable for handling and solve their every day life problems, issues within their peers and possibly whole their community especial vulnerability of such group as refugee.This successful five day workshop training was funded by SCUK and organized by Social Welfare Center (SWC) in July 20-25/2010 in the center. The aims of the workshop is to enhance of youth host, because more than ever Young people today are faced with so many challenges in a fast paced environment, influenced by, the import of new cultures and life styles and yet looming out there is the HIV/AIDS scourge. As a result, young people are increasingly being required to behave more responsibly in an environment where they apt to find themselves taking over family responsibilities; as caregivers and as heads of households. This workshop were intended to training 25 of youth refugee living Hargiesa superb to well equipped all necessary basic knowledge to become youth peer educators for their sectors as refugee. In this Training for Youth Peer Educators has been thought us context of promoting solution of the problems that frequently face and prepare youth and adolescents to build life skills that help their fellow peers deal with various psychosocial challenges in life. Psychosocial challenges include among others issues such as HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases, child pregnancies, child abuse, alcohol and drug problems etc. Finally the training concluded with its anticipated outcome of pre-planned face with attained to give direct training in 25 youth peer counsellor among or within its sectors of such as those belonging same age mate, as well as whole of their community to rise up the intervention programs that want to undertake SCUK and other stakeholder such UNCHR who invest in this host population living Somaliland. |
